DCI - ductal invasive carcinoma

  • incidence 70%
  • Clinically palpable depending on size
  • Pathologically progressive accumulation of cells in terminal ducto-lobular units.

Mammography

  • Stellate or circular shadow
  • About 1/3 as circular
  • G3 – more often axillary lymph nodes- higher recurrence.

LCI - lobular invasive carcinoma

  • Incidence 10-13%
  • Clinically palpable 70%
  • Pathological infiltration of the tissue is more common than mass formation

Mammography

  • Spiculous mass
  • Broken architectonics
  • Parenchymal asymmetry
  • Normal mammogram 16-20%
  • Microcalcifications are usually absent
