It is estimated that a large number of cases of cancer and other chronic diseases could be prevented by proper nutrition, weight control, optimal physical activity, avoiding tobacco smoke and excessive alcohol consumption.
These principles should be followed by all persons, with adjustments for age and health status.
People suffering from breast cancer or other chronic diseases, during therapy, should adjust their diet to the therapeutic regime and existing complaints.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR PROPER DIET
- Choose foods of predominantly plant origin: food should be rich in fruits, vegetables, legumes and grains.
- Eat as many fruits and vegetables as possible.
Eat fruits and vegetables several times a day (at least five meals or 400 to 800 grams per day) throughout the year.
A diet rich in fruits and vegetables reduces the risk of various types of cancer.
Fruits and vegetables contain fiber, vitamins, minerals and other essential ingredients. It is recommended that you have at least five servings of fruits and vegetables every day. - Plant-based foods rich in starch.
Eat 600-800 grams of plant-based foods that are rich in starch or protein.
The first group includes:
-cereals
-legumes or grainy vegetables (beans, peas, lentils)
-tuberous vegetables (potatoes, turnips)
-carrots, white greens, etc.
Whole grains have an advantage over processed (refined) grains. This group of foods contains fibrous substances, vitamins (B, C, E, carotenoids) and other ingredients that have a protective effect.
There is a lot of fiber in cereals and grainy vegetables. - Do not drink alcoholic beverages.
Alcoholic beverages are not recommended. If you do consume them, limit them to one drink per day. - Limit the use of red meat.
Eliminate red meat (pork, beef, lamb) from your diet or limit its use to 80 grams per day. Instead of red meat, eat fish, poultry or possibly game. - Limit the use of fats.
Limit the use of fatty foods, especially animal meat. Use moderate amounts
vegetable fats. - Limit the use of salt and salty/salted foods
- Avoid fried, grilled, salted and smoked foods.
- Take care of your body weight.
- Be physically active.
